This species of datnoid survives best in brackish water, with a specific gravity between 1.002 and 1.007. It prefers a pH of 7.6–8.0, and a temperature of 22–26°C (72–79°F). The Siamese tiger fish is predatory and will eat smaller fish, various live foods, and frozen foods. Many hobbyists pellet-train their datnoids to reduce the risk of disease and parasites from live food. Wild Siamese tiger fish grow to 24 in (61 cm). Captive ones are generally smaller, though may still require a large aquarium since some Siamese tigerfish have been grown to 16 in or more in length.

The Siamese Tiger Fish is one of the most handsome large fish in the aquarium hobby. This beautiful fish is a great addition to any large tank containing relatively non-aggressive, predatory fish.

The Siamese Tiger Fish is among the most handsome big fish at the aquarium hobby. This gorgeous fish is a superb addition to any big tank comprising comparatively non-aggressive, predatory fish. The Siamese Tiger Fish is advised for a more experienced bass. They’re a large predatory fish, even though comparatively calm with similar kinds of fish. However, they require a huge container to live in and these fish need pristine waters.

Siamese Tiger Fish are predatory carnivores that eat live fish in their natural habitat.   In an aquarium environment they can be taught to eat dead meaty foods such as shrimp, prawn, mussels, whitebaits, and for juveniles; bloodworms, insect larvae, and brine shrimp. At the aquarium, their primary diet is composed of fish though they may occasionally be coaxed into eating fish, insects or rats. 1 look at their big mouth will inform you that little tank mates will evaporate quickly. They aren’t aggressive towards other species, however, will try to consume any fish which will fit in their mouth.

All these are large messy fish. In case their tank is installed to fit that of the normal surroundings, it can be exceedingly hard to keep a fresh tank. The demand for a sizable outside big system filter is essential.
